FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Baseball Team swept their second doubleheader of the weekend on Sunday afternoon when they defeated Ashford University, 15-8, in game one and 12-3, in game two. The Owls have won four straight contests.

Game One
Game FlowThe Saints scored the first run of the game in the top of the first. Peter Ruiz singled up the middle and Jean Carlos Peralta doubled to deep center putting Ashford ahead, 1-0. The next three hitters were retired in order.

William Woods bounced back in the bottom of the first inning, as the Owls put up five runs on three hits and took advantage of one error. With two outs, the Owls scored all five runs. With runners on first and second base,
Matt Priest singled to center scoring one and tying the game.
Anthony Davison drew a walk to load the bases.
Nolan Aherin followed with an RBI walk putting the Owls ahead 2-1.
Dakota Smith followed with a single scoring the third run for the Owls.
Tanner Wetrich reached base on a Jean Carlos Peralta's error scoring two and putting the Owls ahead 5-1.

WWU grew its lead to 10-1 after the bottom of the third inning. The Owls scored five more runs on five hits.
Jansen Smith doubled down the left field line scoring two. Smith came around to score on a
Jordan Dey double down the left field line.

The Owls offense continued to click in the first game as in the bottom of the fourth inning, Jensen Smith, collected his third hit of the game, with a triple to right center scoring two runs on the place. Smith scored on a bad throw by Saints pitcher Trevor Jones, where Dey reached base.

After allowing two runs in the top of the first,
Jesse Remington settled down and only allowed the Saints collect three hits until the top of the fifth inning. The Saints got to Remington in the top of fifth inning, as the Saints scored three runs, all of which were allowed by Remington. After four and a half innings of play the Owls led 13-4.

William Woods added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Owls scored the first run in the inning on a sacrifice fly by
Larry Price.
Alex St. Pierre singled home the next run for the Owls putting the Owls ahead, 15-4.

Ashford started coming to life in the top of the seventh inning, as they scored four runs in the inning. The Owls defeat the Saints, 15-8, in game one.

Game Two
Game FlowLike game one, Ashford jumped over the Owls starters. Peter Ruiz singled to lead off the game and Jean Carlos Peralta hit a two run homerun to center field. The Saints were not done as Lucas Pattison doubled to right-center and came around to on a Jason German single putting the Saints ahead 3-0.

The Owls looked as is if they were going to bounce back in the bottom of the first inning.
Larry Price was hit by a pitch and
Jansen Smith followed with a doubled to left. With one out and runners on second and third, Price tried to score on a wild pitch put was tagged out at the plate and the owls did not score in the first inning.

Jacob Guilianelli settled down after the first inning and only allowed one hit to the Saints for his next four innings of work.

In the bottom of second inning, the Owls put up seven runs on six hits in the inning. With the bases loaded, Wetrich singled up the middle scoring two runs. Later in the inning,
Patrick Dillion tripled to right center scoring two more runs. After the second inning, the Owls led 7-3.

The Owls added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning, with one out, Wetrich doubled down the right field line and Price followed with a triple to right center scoring one. Price came in to score on a sacrifice fly by
Neal Aherin putting the Owls ahead, 9-3.

William Woods continued to add to its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dey led off the inning with a triple down the right-center.
Ryan Phillips reached base on being hit by a pitch. With runners on the corners,
Tyler Bracht hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring one. The Owls added two more in the inning stretching its lead to 12-3 over the Saints.

WWU did not allow the Saints to get anything else going on offense and the Owls defeated the Saints, 12-3 in game two.
