FULTON, Mo. – The bats of the William Woods University baseball team were hot all Wednesday night as the Owls defeated Culver-Stockton College, 23-10, in non-conference action. William Woods collected 22 hits in the contest en route to the victory.

The Owls return to action at Owl Field this weekend when they host Freed-Hardeman University in a three game set. Friday is game one, which is a single nine-inning contest. First-pitch is set for 23-10.

Game FlowCulver-Stockton came out swinging a hot bat against the Owls as they opened up the scoring quick in the first inning. The Wildcats started with three straight bases hits taking an early 1-0 lead on the WWU. Culver-Stockton continued to jump on Owls starter,
Jesse Remington as they scored four runs in the frame and heading to the bottom of the first the Owls trailed 4-0.

The Owls responded quickly in the bottom of the inning. With runners on second and third,
Ryan Phillips singled home two runs putting the Owls down, 4-2. Phillips came around to score when
Jordan Dey hit his first home run of the season tying the game at 4-4. The Owls took the lead on a
Travis Simonin single.

After taking the lead the Owls did not look back and the bats stayed hot for the remainder of the contest. The Owls grew its lead to 8-4 in the bottom of the second inning.

Drew May drove in runs in the inning and
Larry Price came into score when the Wildcats cutoff man did not run the ball into the infield.

The Owls continued to roll at the plate as they scored one run in the third and eight runs in the fourth inning growing its lead to 17-6. The Wildcats never got back in the contest as William Woods grew its lead to 23-10 over Culver-Stockton.
