LA MIRADA, Calif. – The William Woods University softball team's bats came to life as they collected 24 hits in the doubleheader against Biola University. The Owls swept the Eagles, 8-0 (6 inn.) and 12-9 (9 inn.) on Thursday afternoon.

The Owls collected 11 hits in game and 13 hits in game two. The Owls return to action on Friday, April 1st when they travel to Fullerton, Calif. to face Hope International University. First-pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT.

Game One
Game FlowAfter a scoreless first inning, the Owls bats acme to life in the top of the second inning against the Eagles.
Brailee Schulte led off the inning with a double, and Allie Massey followed with a single putting runners on the corners.
Shelby LeCuru followed with a double down the leftfield line putting the Owls ahead, 1-0. William woods was not done and after a pitching change,
Amanda Bouchey singled to left scoring one and extending the Owls lead to, 2-0.
Sydnae Hatton drove in two more runs with a double to enter field and after the top of the second, WWU led 4-0.

After scoring four runs in the second inning,
Allison Waskow kept the Eagles off balance. Biola only collected two hits off Waskow for the contest and the first game in the bottom of the second with a leadoff single. After the single, Waskow settled down retiring the next three hitters.

The game remained 4-0 until the top of the sixth inning when they Owls put four more runs on the board on four hits. With two on, Hatton collected her second hit of the game, an infield single, loading the bases. Campbell came up and singled, scoring one and putting WWU ahead, 5-0.
Ari Arnold followed by drawing a bases loaded walk, putting the Owls ahead, 6-0.
Beth Begemann hit into a fielder's choice put on the play Hatton came into score and the Owls led 7-0. The Owls got its eighth run of the game on a single by Schulte.

Biola needed one run to force a seventh inning and the inning started off looking good. After a hit by pitch, the Eagles collected its second hit of the game and had two runners on base with no outs. However, the next hitter for Biola grounded into a double play and the following hitter popped out ending the game.

The Owls came away with an 8-0 victory in game one. The two hits only allowed by Waskow tied the fewest hits given up in a start for her. This was the second time this season she kept a team to two hits in a contest.

Game Two
Game FlowThe Owls jumped on Biola's starter in the top of the first. With two outs and a runner on first,
Hillary Hentges singled up the middle putting two runners on base. With a 1-0 count,
Brailee Schulte hit a three run home run to left field putting the Owls ahead, 3-0.

Sierra Jacques came out and walked the first two batters she faced. After a sac bunt moved the runners to second and third. The Eagles scored one on a safety squeeze trimming the Owls lead to two, 3-1 after the first inning.

The Owls added to its lead in the top of the second inning, as
Sydnae Hatton drove in
Shelby LeCuru from second putting the Owls ahead, 4-1. The lead did not last long for the Owls, as the Eagles got to Jacques in the bottom of the second inning. Biola scored three runs on two hits and took advantage of one Owls error. After two innings of play the Owls and Eagles were tied 4-4.

Amanda Bouchey broke the tie in the top of the fourth. With one out, Bouchey took the 2-1 pitch over the center field fence putting the Owls ahead 5-4.

Biola answered back and tying the game in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, Bria Madrid, drew a walk scoring one and tying the game at 5-5.

The game stayed tied until the top of the 8th inning. With a runner on second base, Arnold advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Alexi Cavins singled home Arnold putting the Owls ahead 6-5. However, that would be all William Woods would score in the inning and heading to the bottom of the inning, the Owls led 6-5.

Biola answered right back in the bottom of the eight as with a runner on third base, Andi Hormel scored on a wild pitch. With a runner on first and second and two outs, Kimmy Triolo singled center field, and Marissa Reyes tried to score from second base put was thrown out trying to score from second but was thrown out at the plate by Campbell keeping the game tied at 6-6.

The Owls broke the game open in the top of the ninth inning. Campbell singled home one run putting WWU ahead, 7-6.
Ari Arnold followed with a single to right field scoring another run and extending the lead to 8-6. The lead grew to 9-6, when
Beth Begemann reached on a fielder's choice which scored a run. Schulte followed with a three run double down the right field putting the Owls ahead 12-6.

Biola would not go away without a fight. With runners on second and third, Waskow struck out the next two hitters. However, the next two Eagles hit back-to-back doubles trimming the lead down to three, 12-9. That would be as close as the Eagles would get as Waskow got the next hitter to ground out and the Owls won the game 12-9.
