FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University swept its American Midwest Conference (AMC) showdown with Lindenwood University-Belleville on Tuesday afternoon at Owl Field. The Owls took game one 3-1, and game two, 7-0, by forfeit.

With the wins the Owls improve to 26-23, on the season and 15-9 in AMC action.
The Owls return to action Tuesday, April 26th when they travel to Fayette, Mo. to face Central Methodist University in non-conference action. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

The Lynx and Owls were locked up in a highly contested first three innings of action. During the first three and a half innings of play, the teams combined for three hits. However, the Owls bats came up big in the fourth inning.

Hannah Campbell led off with a single and
Brailee Schulte followed with a bunt single.
Hillary Hentges followed with the third hit in a row of the Owls, as she singled to left-center scoring Campbell. After a force out for the first out of the inning for the Owls,
Emily Murphy tripled down the right field line scoring two and putting the Owls ahead, 3-0.

The game remained 3-0 until the top of the sixth inning when the Lynx got to Owls starter
Sierra Jacques. Back-to-back singles put runners on the corners for Lindenwood-Belleville with no outs. Paige Kuefler stole second putting runners on second and third.
Allison Waskow came in in relief of Jacques and the first batter reached on an infield single, which scored a run for the Lynx. After the run scored, the Waskow settled down and struck out two and got a ground out to end the inning.

After a walk the Owls went down one two three in the sixth inning. The Lynx had one last at bat and Waskow kept the Lynx off balance. Waskow got a ground out and then struck out pinch hit Payton Curtis. With two outs, Waskow got Hayley Franks to pop out in foul territory ending the game and the Owls won, 3-1.
