WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Junior
Jasmine Brown scored 21 points, on 7-of-10 shooting to lead the William Woods University women's basketball team past Williams Baptist College, 65-58, on Thursday night in American Midwest Conference action. The win improved the Owls to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in AMC action on the season.

Following Brown in scoring was
Kelsey Scherder and
Bailey Rollins, who both scored 11 points to round out the double-figure scorers. Freshman
Peyton Greenlee led the Owls with eight rebounds in the contest. WWU shot 41.7 percent from the floor in the contest.

William Woods returns to action on Saturday, January 7th when they play at No. 1 Freed-Hardeman University. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

Nine seconds in the contest,
Kelsey Scherder hit a three-pointer to open the scoring, but Williams Baptist scored the next 14 points of the quarter and held a 11-point lead, 14-3, lead with 4:58 left in the first quarter. WWU answered right back with a 13-0 run of its own over the next three minutes, taking a two-point lead, 16-14. Trailing by one, 17-16,
Bailey Rollins closed out the first quarter by hitting a three-pointer and putting the Owls ahead 19-17.

The Eagles came back scoring the first five points of the second quarter, 22-19, after a Da'Monique Brown two-pointer.
Kelsey Scherder hit a three-pointer tying the game at 22-22. Williams Baptist continued to hold onto the lead until Rollins hit a three-pointer tying the game at 27-27. Brown scored the final three points of the half and with 33 seconds left in the half, 32-29. The Eagles came back scoring the final three-points of half and the game was tied at 32-32 at halftime.

The Owls came out and took the lead early in the third quarter as
April Gebke hit a jumper and the Owls led by four points, 38-34, with 5:48 left in the quarter. WWU and WBC closed out the quarter by trading leads back and forth. WWU held a two-point lead, 43-41, after a jumper by Brown. Williams Baptist outscored the Owls, 6-2, to end the third quarter and the Owls trailed 47-45, after three quarters of play.

The lead would trade hands early in the fourth quarter as a jumper by
Peyton Greenlee put the Owls head by one, 49-48. The Eagles answered back with a three-pointer and the Owls trailed 51-49. Seven straight Owls points put the Owls ahead 56-51, with 5:38 left. After taking the lead the Owls did not look back as they held the lead the remainder of the contest. An old fashion three-point play by Da'Monique Brown put the Eagles down three, 59-56, with 4:25 left in the contest. The Owls only allowed Williams Baptist to two more points for the game and the Owls came away with a 65-58 victory.
