Volleyball Splits on Final Day of Grand View Tournament

Des Moines, Iowa – The William Woods University volleyball team split for the second straight day of the Grand View Tournament. WWU opened the day with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-23) over receiving votes Rocky Mountain College. The Owls closed out by being swept by Trinity Christian, 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 22-25).
 
WWU returns to action on Tuesday, October 17th when they travel to Columbia, Missouri to face No. 13 Columbia College. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
 
Rocky Mountain
The Owls opened the day with a sweep of Rocky Mountain College. The Owls won 25-23, 25-21, 25-23 over the Battlin' Bears. In the match the Owls collected 42 kills in the match and had a hitting percentage of .156 on the day. They held the Battlin' Bears to a hitting percentage of .137.
 
WWU won the first set 25-23 but only hit .042 in the set. they had 12 kills while making 10 errors in the set. WWU's offense came awake in the second set as they had 17 kills on 42 attacks and hit .238 for the set. The Owls hot hitting continued in the third set as they had 13 kills on 38 attacks. They hit .211 in the third set.
 
WWU recorded nine blocks against Rocky Mountain and had six aces in the match.

Trinity Christian
Coming off a win the Owls ended the Grand View Tournament with a loss to Trinity Christian. The Owls were swept 25-17, 25-20, 25-22, by the Trolls.
 
The Trolls Kacie Stoll had 19 kills in the match to lead Trinity Christian to the victory. Over two sets, the Trolls hit .235, while the Owls were hitting .188 in the match.
 
WWU had only four blocks in the match.
