FULTON, Mo. –  The William Woods University Volleyball team defeated Harris-Stowe State University, 3-0, (25-17, 25-16, 25-15) on Wednesday evening at Anderson Arena.

 With the win, the Owls improve to 23-6 on the season and 9-2 in the AMC. WWU was led by
Tory Wiley who had 10 kills in the match. WWU tallied 11 blocks against the Hornets. WWU's
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 29 assists in the match.

WWU returns to action on Saturday, October 28th when they travel to Marshall, Missouri to face Avila University (2 p.m.) and Missouri Valley College (4 p.m.)

Game Flow
The first set started out with a point for point battle as the Hornets kept knocking at the door. The Owls took a two-point lead, but the Hornets would continue to chase the Owls down and the match would be tied at 10-10. It was not until a service run by
Kameryn Bellinger that the Owls broke out into a seven-point lead, 19-12. The Hornets would score two more points before the Owls would take the first set, 25-17.

The Owls would come out and score the first five of the six points, 5-1, in the second set. The Owls continued to take the lead as
Jessica Jensen taking the service. A block by Wiley and a kill by
Melanie Kala would come in the run, and WWU took an 8-2 lead. After a kill by
Abby Ferguson, the Owls found themselves with a nine-point lead, 14-5. The Hornets continued to battle back and would go on a four-point run, cutting the lead down to six 18-12. The Hornets would threaten late in the set but a block by
Rayleen Rivera and
Jaclyn Zahn would stop the Hornets and keep the Owls ahead 22-16. The Owls would take set two, 25-16.

Looking for the sweep, the Owls shot out the gate scoring the first three points in the set, but the Hornets would answer back immediately, tying the set at 3-3. After a block by Ferguson and
Brittney Engelbrecht, the Owls would get in gear. A six-point service run by Kala and a block by Wiley and
Kira Krebill as well as a service ace, WWU would lead 15-7. The Hornets threatened late in the set with Jhameka Lambert-Gully would give the Owls trouble receiving the serve, 18-15. After a kill by Rivera, the Owls were able to rally off the last five points. With a block by Rivera, kills by Engelbrecht and
Kylie Zamboni-Cutter the Owls were able to win the set and match, 25-15.
