ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team recorded its fifth straight week on Wednesday night as they swept St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The Owls won 25-11, 25-18, 25-19, extending its winning streak to 14 straight games.

Tory Wiley led the Owls with 10 kills and
Jaclyn Zahn followed with seven.
Remie Johnson led the Owls wit h16 assists and
Jessica Jensen recorded a game-high 24 digs. WWU hit .225 in the match against the Eutectics.

The Owls return to action on Friday, October 6th when they travel to Belleville, Illinois to face Lindenwood University – Belleville. Match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls hit the ground running against the Eutectics when they ran away with an early lead of four-points, 6-2, in the first set. The Owls would continue to add to their lead as they took the lead by eight, 13-6. After a service run by
Melanie Kala, the Owls found themselves with a lead of nine points. In that run,
Kira Krebill and
Tory Wiley added kills of their own extending the lead to 19-10.
Jessica Jensen recorded an ace and timely blocks from
Abby Ferguson and
Kate Doerhoff gave the Owls the first set, 25-11.
The second set would go point for point until another successful service run by Jensen. Wiley added two more kills in the same run putting the Owls ahead 7-2. The Eutectics would fight back and tie the set at 8-8. The Owls would take advantage of Eutectics mishaps and take the lead by three, 11-8. With the match going point for point, the Owls ran away with a five-point lead, adding kills by
Megan Rogers and Doerhoff as well as a service ace extending the lead to 16-11. The Eutectics would hit another surge, cutting the Owls lead down again to one point, 16-15. It would continue to back and forth until
Brooke Reed would add four-points with the help of Wiley and Rogers adding two kills apiece, the Owls would take set two, 25-18.
Working for their fifth sweep, the Owls had a rough start in the third set. The Eutectics took an early lead of six points, 9-3. The Owls would fight back, but the Eutectics would work to keep their lead and led 14-9. It was not until after a kill by
Brittney Engelbrecht would the Owls get the ball rolling and tie the set at 14-14. With both teams fighting for the lead, the Owls would finally take the lead late in the set going on a three-kill spree by Rogers, Bellinger, and Johnson, 20-17. A big block by
Kylie Zamboni-Cutter and
Jaclyn Zahn would secure the third set for the Owls, 25-19.
