BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The William Woods University women's basketball teams six game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday evening when they were defeated by No. 23 Lindenwood University-Belleville, 72-69.
Jasmine Brown led the Owls with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting.
Peyton Greenlee followed with 14 points
Bailey Rollins followed with 10 points to round out the double-figure scorers. The Owls hit eight three pointers in the contest and the Owls shot 41 percent from the floor on the contest.
WWU returns to action on Thursday, February 16 when they host Williams Baptist College at Anderson Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

William Woods and Lindenwood-Belleville were locked in a highly-contested contest as a pair of free throws by Brianna Mueller pair of free throws tied the game at 5-5. WWU came back and took a 13-11 lead after a
Peyton Greenlee jumper. Late in the first quarter, the Lynx built a three-point lead, 18-15, and a pair of free throws by
Jasmine Brown hit a pair of free throws cutting the lead down to 18-17 after one quarter of play.
Over the first three minute of the second quarter, the Owls found themselves down 24-19. After finding themselves down five points, the Owls came back tying the game at 24-24 after a three by Greenlee and a layup by
Jasmine Brown. With the game tied at 26-26, the Owls outscored the Lynx by four points, taking a 37-33 lead into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Owls offense started to cool off as the Lynx bounced back and took the lead, 44-40, three minutes into the quarter. After the Owls slowly started to come back and trimmed the lead down to two, 46-44, after a pair of free throws by Greenlee. The Lynx ended the quarter on an 8-2 run taking an eight-point lead, 54-46, after the third quarter.
The Lynx grew the lead to 11, 57-46, after a three-pointer by Brianna Mueller to open the fourth quarter of play. WWU cut the lead down to seven after free throw by Brown but the Lynx grew the lead back to 10 on the next possession. The lead grew to as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter prior to the Owls started to come back. With the Owls down 13, 70-60, the Owls went on a 9-2 run taking the lead down to three, after a
Bailey Rollins three-pointer, with 37 seconds left in the contest. WWU had a three pointer to tie but the Owls shot missed and the Owls were defeated 72-69.
