COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team shot 53.1 percent for the contest as the Owls defeated Stephens College, 91-53, on Thursday evening. The win for the Owls was its 19th win of the season.

WWU had a trio of scorers in double-figures led by
Kennedy Volkart, who scored 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
Peyton Greenlee followed with 11 points and
April Gebke scored 10 to round out the double-figure scorers. Volkart also led the Owls with 10 rebounds.

The Owls return to action on Saturday, February 25th when they close out the regular season at Columbia College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls offense came out scoring as they opened the contest on a 10-2 run over the first four minutes of the contest. During the stretch the Owls had baskets by four different players. WWU continued to stretch the lead in the first quarter as a jumper by
Kennedy Volkart put the Owls ahead 21-9. WWU grew the lead to 25-12 after the first quarter of action.

Like the first quarter, William Woods opened the second quarter on run, this time score nine of the first 11 points.
Kendra Vaughan hit a free throw putting the Owls ahead by 20, 34-14. Later in the second quarter, Vaughan knocked down a three-pointer putting the owls ahead, 40-14. The Owls grew the lead to 30 points, 52-22, at halftime. The Owls offense shot 54 percent from the floor in the first half of the game.

William Woods came out and grew their lead to as many as 67-30 in the third quarter of the contest. William Woods picked up the defensive pressure in the second half as they held the Stars to five points over the last five minutes of the third quarter. WWU led by 71-35 after three quarters of play.

In the fourth quarter the Owls came out and grew the lead to 76-38 after a jumper by
Jess Schmidt. The Owls continued to hold a commanding lead in the contest as the Stars had no answer for the hot shooting Owls. With three minutes to go in the contest, the Owls
Kailey Morris hit a three putting the Owls ahead by 40, 84-44. WWU would come away with a 91-53 victory over the Stars.
