KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team dropped its midweek tilt with Avila University on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles topped the Owls, 12-1, in seven innings.

Konrad Kemper collected the only hit for the Owls as he doubled in the second inning, which drove home the lone run for the Owls in the contest.

WWU returns to the field on Friday, April 14th when they host Columbia College at Owl Field. First-pitch is set for 6 p.m.

Game Flow
After a scoreless top of the first inning, the Eagles scored the first run of the contest as they took advantages of control issues by
Brice Mueller. Chase Watt drew a walk to load the bases for Avila. After a pop out, Josh Shewmaker drove in the first run on a single to left field. Mueller got the next hitter to ground out to end the inning.

William Woods answered back in the top of the second inning. With one out,
Matt Priest drew a walk to put a runner on base for the Owls. He came into score on a
Konrad Kemper double down the left field line, tying the game at 1-1. That would be all the Owls would get in the inning.

Avila broke the tie in the bottom of the second inning when Daniel Wells singled scoring one. The next batter, Chad Butler doubled to left-center scoring the second run of the inning for the Eagles and Avila took a 3-1 lead after two innings of play. Â

The Eagles grew its lead to 8-1 after five innings of play. Avila added two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth innings to extend its lead over the Owls. Brandon Chandler collected an RBI double in the fourth for the Eagles and Butler had an RBI double helping the Eagles offense in the fifth.

Avilia's offense continued to heat up in the contest as they scored four runs in the sixth inning taking a 12-1 lead over the Owls. WWU could not get anything going in the seventh inning and were run ruled by the Eagles, 12-1, in seven innings.
