Baseball Eliminated From AMC Championship With 12-5 Loss

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The William Woods University baseball season came to an end on Monday afternoon with a 12-5 loss to top-seed Missouri Baptist University at Carnes Field on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University.
 
With the loss for the Owls they conclude its 2017 season with a 27-30 record on the season.
 
Game Flow
In the first inning, the Owls came out strong as Chase Feucht, the Owls starter, struck out the first two batters and got the third batter to fly out. The Owls offense came out and Nolan Aherin reached on a walk and advanced to third on two straight wild pitches. He scored on an Alex St. Pierre ground out. The Owls were not done as Ryan Phillips singled, Tyler Cunningham walked. After a fielders' choice, the Owls had runners on first and second. Glen DesBouillons came up and singled home two more and the Owls led 3-0.
 
Missouri Baptist came up in the second inning and Austin Rieman walked. His stay did not last long as he was picked up and John Hagan struck out. However, after the second out, Feucht hit on batter and then allowed back to back hits allowing two runs to score.
 
William Woods answered right back scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning. WWU scored the two runs on three hits. Tyler Bracht came into score on a Nolan Aherin double to straight away center field. After a sacrifice bunt, Aherin was standing on third and he scored on a Phillips ground out. After two innings, the Owls led 5-2.
 
The Spartans continued to stay out at the plate as they scored two runs each in the top of the third inning and the top of the fourth inning. With the Spartans offense heating up, the Owls bats went cold as they collected one hit in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
 
Missouri Baptist broke the game open in the open in the top of the sixth inning. The Spartans scored six runs on six hits and took advantage of one Owls error building its lead to 12-5.
 
The Owls bats could not get anything going after the second inning as they collected three hits for the remainder of the contest. The Owls were defeated 12-5 by the Spartans of Missouri Baptist.
