ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A balance scoring attack led the William Woods University men's basketball team to a 70-58 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Thursday night in American Midwest Conference action. WWU had four players score in double-figures.

Leading the Owls were Makenzie Fessler and DaShaun Stark who both scored 13 points. Brian Enriquez followed with 12 and Hakeem Simon scored 10 for the Owls. WWU shot 47 percent from the floor and scored 34 points in the paint.

WWU returns to action on Saturday, January 20th when they host Hannibal-LaGrange University in American Midwest Conference action. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls and Eutectics offences came out cold as seven minutes into the contest the Owls led 6-5. WWU did not stay cold for long as over the next four minutes of the contest, the Owls went on a 17-2 run, that put the Owls ahead 23-7. Hakeem Simon closed the run with a basket in the paint.

After a three by Brian Enriquez with 5:49 left in the first half, the Owls led 28-10. St. Louis Pharmacy continued to battle and with 1:05 left in the first half trimmed the lead won to ten, 33-23. William Woods closed the half out scoring the final four points on buckets by Simon and Chance Wilkerson. WWU led 37-23 at halftime.

In the first half, the owls shot 54 percent from the floor and forced the Eutectics into 10 turnovers.

Over the first two minutes of the half a jumper by DaShaun Stark put the Owls ahead by 17, 42-25, however, Starks bucket would be the last basket for the Owls over the next four minutes of the contest. During the Owls cold stretch, the Eutectics only scored two points.

With the Owls ahead, 46-29, Pharmacy started to claw back into the game as they scored five straight points taking the Owls lead down to 12, 46-34, after a Jordan Anderson jumper. It looked as if the Owls would grow the lead back out but back-to-back threes by Colton Frazer put the Eutectics down 10, 50-40.

With the lead down to ten, the Owls went on a 15-5 run taking 65-45 lead after a Matt Burgess three. Again, the Eutectics battled back and trimmed the lead down to 14, 65-51, with 3:07 left in the game. Pharmacy cut the lead down to 12 but that would be as close as they would get as WWU came away with a 70-58 victory.
