Men's Soccer Faces Williams Baptist Tuesday at Firley Field

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team looks for their 10th win on the season Tuesday afternoon as they host the Williams Baptist University Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Firley Field.
 
About Williams Baptist
The Eagles (5-6-1, 3-4 AMC) enter the contest coming off a 4-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman. Raul Abellan Sanz, Luciana Bicca, Henrique Torres and Joao Rupp all scored in the contest for Williams Baptist.
 
They have had 12 players score goals so far this season. Giovanni Souza leads the Eagles with six goals, while Thayrone Cazeca follows with five of his own. Henrique Torres has four and Raul Abellan Sanz has three. All other William Baptist goal scores have only recorded one on the season.
 
Cazeca is the only Eagles player with national rankings. He currently ranks 22nd overall in shots on goal per game (2.3) and 47th overall in shots per game (3.7).
 
Last time against the Eagles
On September 25th, 2017 WWU defeated Williams Baptist 3-0 in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Rodrigo Alves scored two goals for the Owls while Darren Wilson recorded the final goal for WWU. William Woods outshot the Eagles 15-8 and 7-2 with shots being on goal.

The first time the Owls saw the Eagles was on September 7, 2000. WWU defeated the Eagles 4-0. Since then William Woods has won every match and holds a 19-0 series lead.
 
About William Woods
The Owls enter the contest 9-2-3 and 6-0-1 in AMC play which puts them in second place. They have not lost a game since August 24th when they fell to Culver-Stockton 5-1.
 
WWU is coming off a 5-0 shutout to Harris-Stowe. Tres Caroo led the way for the Owls with two goals. Darren Wilson, Stefan Simic and Billy Nzojyibwami each had one goal in the contest. William Woods outshot the Hornets 21-7 and 15-5 with shots being on goal.
 
The Owls currently rank in the top 50 in four categories. They hold the 8th spot overall in total shutouts with eight on the season, 11th overall in shutouts per game (.57), 30th overall in shots on goal per game (8.9) and 50th overall in shots per game (16).
 
Wilson, Nzojyibwami and Faherty are the only WWU players with national rankings. Wilson ranks 2nd overall in total game winning goals (5) and 3rd overall in game winning goals per game (.45). Nzojyibwami ranks 25th overall in total game winning goals with three on the season. Faherty is ranked 43rd overall in goals against per game (1).
 
Last season the Owls finished 6-1-2 at home. With two home games left on the season, WWU has a chance to tie their home record last season and giving them their second-best home season in the last three years.  

What's Next
Following Tuesday's game, the Owls return home on Saturday, Oct. 20th when they host Park University for senior day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
