Volleyball Hosts Lindenwood-Belleville Friday

The William Woods University volleyball looks for their 12th straight win Friday night as they face conference opponent Lindenwood University-Belleville. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
 
About the Lynx
The Lynx enter the contest 7-8 overall and 3-2 in AMC play. They are coming off a 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-7) victory against Harris-Stowe that took place on September 28th. They had a .254 hitting percentage in the contest. Lindenwood-Belleville has won two of its last three contests.
 
Lindenwood-Belleville currently ranks 33rd in the nation overall in service aces per game (1.9). The Lynx currently have two players with national rankings. Clara Oliveria currently ranks 13th overall in service aces per game averaging .61 while Kourtney Knox ranks 38th overall in services aces averaging .51 a contest.
 
Last Time against Lindenwood-Belleville
Last season the Owls defeated the Lynx 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-10).  Rayleen Rivera led the Owls with 14 kills on the night while Jessica Jensen led WWU with 25 digs. WWU dropped the first two sets, before winning the final three to clinch the match.
 
All-time against the Lynx
The first time these two teams met, was on August 30, 2012. William Woods defeated the Lynx in a four set match (25-12, 25-14, 22-25, 25-14).  Sarah Wehmeyer and Emily Becker both recorded double-doubles in the victory. Since then, the Owls have won all but one match and hold a 4-1 series lead over Lindenwood-Belleville.

William Woods (15-7, 6-0 AMC) currently holds the third place spot in the American Midwest Conference. On October 2nd, the Owls recorded their 11th straight win in a 3-0 shutout against Evangel (25-15, 25-10, 25-22).
 
The Owls have shutout 11 of their opponents so far this season. WWU currently holds four national rankings; they rank 22nd overall in total blocks (161), 30th overall in total service aces (143), 36th overall in blocks per game (2) and 49th overall in total kills (934).
 
The Owls also have two players with national rankings. Rayleen Rivera ranks 5th overall in total service aces recording 46 on the season. She also ranks 30th overall in total service aces tailing 143. Jaclyn Zahn is currently ranked 16th overall in total blocks (82) and 35th overall in blocks per game averaging 1 a contest.
 
Winning Streak
The Owls have won 11 straight games this season. The winning streak started on September 8th when they defeated Waldorf 3-1 (26-24, 17-25, 25-18, 25-16). During the winning streak, the Owls have only dropped four sets. This is the second straight season the Owls have had a 10 plus game winning streak. Last year the Owls won 16 straight.
 
Playing at Home
The Owls have played at Anderson Arena eight times this season. The Owls are 7-1 on the season at home and have won its last seven matches held at Anderson Arena.
 
What's Next
Following Friday night's match, the Owls return home on October 9th when they host No. 3 Columbia College at 7 p.m.
