Women's Basketball Falls to Tabor, 45-38

HILLSBORO, Kan. – The William Woods University women's basketball team leaves the Tabor Classic 0-2 after Saturday's low scoring loss to host Tabor College, 45-38. The loss drops them to 3-2 on the season after opening the season with a 3-0 run.

The Owls took a dominating 16-7 lead after one quarter and possessed the lead through three.

The Owls will open American Midwest Conference play on Thursday, November 15, with a 5:30 p.m. game versus Park University.
 
Game Flow
Bailey Rollins started the scoring with a bucket in the paint off a Tabor team turnover one minute into the game.  Ashleigh Frampton scored next to give the Owls a 4-0 lead, but Tabor racked up a 7-0 run over a three minute period to take a 7-4 lead with 3:37 to play in the quarter.

Kasey Hazell hit a jumper to jump-start the Owls 12-0 run to close out the quarter. Five different Owls scored in the run to take a 16-7 lead.

It took both teams over two minutes to score in the second quarter, and Tabor broke the silence with a three. Tabor hit a two to bring the game within four, but a bucket from Peyton Greenlee and

Kaycee Gerald went 2-for-2 from the foul line to go up by eight, 20-12.

Tabor sparked an 8-0 run in just over a minute to tie the game, 20-20.

Gerald hit a two inside the paint with :04 on the clock to keep the lead heading into halftime, 22-20.
Gerald and Hazell opened the second half with a combined three point to take a five-point lead two minutes in, 25-20.

The Owls held the lead most of the quarter despite Tabor tying the game up twice, but with 14 seconds on the clock, Tabor scored three on a traditional three-point play to take a two-point lead, 31-29.

Rollins put in a basket in the paint to start the final quarter and tie the game. Tabor hit a 7-0 run over the next four minutes. The Owls brought the game within five three times but were unable to close the gap closer, dropping the game 45-38.
