WWU Rolls Past Stephens

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team rolled past Stephens College in their second American Midwest Conference game of the season, 78-30. The win brings the Owls to 2-0 in conference play with a 5-2 overall record.

All 15 players saw action and recorded a stat in the conference win. Thirteen players put up points with starters Peyton Greenlee and Kaycee Gerald leading the way with 12 and 11, respectively.

The Owls take just over a week off from play before returning to the floor on Monday, November 26, at Western Illinois University. The road contest is set to begin at 7 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls took the lead first as Ashleigh Frampton went 2-for-2 from the foul line just 10 seconds into the game. Stephens hit a three to take a 3-2 lead, their only lead of the game.

Frampton put up a basket in the paint to give the Owls back the lead, 4-3, and Kaycee Gerald scored down low to give the Owl's a five-point lead.

Stephens hit a two with 6:23 on the clock to bring the score to 8-5.

Gerald's next basket jump-started an Owl's 13-0 run to close out the quarter, 21-5.

Stephens scored first in the second quarter, but the Owls pushed their lead to 19 just four minutes into the quarter.

The Owls racked up an 11-point run in just over four minutes to take a 29-point lead, 39-10.

Stephens scored with 48 seconds on the clock to break their silence and send the game into halftime with the Owls leading 39-12.

The Owls put up their largest quarter coming out of halftime, scoring 25 points. Kasey Hazell put up the first points in the half on a second-chance shot. After Stephens put up three, the Owls found a 14-point run to take a 58-16 lead.

Stephens put an end to the run, but the Owls found a 6-0 run to close out the quarter, 64-18.

The Owls had their lowest scoring quarter in the fourth, putting up 14 while allowing Stephens to almost double their score.

Bekah Joos scored the final points of the game with a three-pointer with seven seconds on the clock.
