PARKVILLE, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team fell to No. 1 Park University in the semifinal round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament. The 3-0 loss ends the season for the Owls with a 20-16 record.
Game Flow
Rayleen Rivera scored the first two points of the match with a kill and an ace to help the Owls to an early 4-1 lead. Park turned the momentum around and took a 5-4 lead just four short plays later.
Park found two 5-0 runs later to take a 19-10 lead. The Owls were unable to recover and fell 25-14.
Kate Doerhoff posted two of the Owl's first three points of set two. Park took the lead, but a kill from
Remie Johnson brought the Owls within one early in the set, 5-4.
Park scored four consecutive but the Owls closed the gap back to two with a 4-1 run, 11-9.
The Owls remained close but a late game 6-1 Park run brought the Pirates to set point.
The Owls rallied a 4-0 run with two Doerhoff kills and a
Tori Rosemann ace but Park put down a kill to end the set, 25-20.
The Owls took a 3-1 lead to start set three with two kills and a block, but Park doubled the Owl's score, 12-6, and continued their 18-5 run to end the match, 25-10.
