Men’s Basketball Downs Pharmacy on Senior Day

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team defeated St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 94-60, on Thursday night in American Midwest Conference action. The Owls shot 57.4 percent from the floor in the contest.
 
Leading the way for the Owls was DaShaun Stark who scored 22 points. Darrien Dickey followed with 16 points. Makenzie Fessler and Jason Walker rounded out the double-figure scores with 12 and 11 points. The Owls scored 46 points in the paint on Thursday night.
 
The Owls travel to Hannibal, Missouri to face the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University to wrap up their regular season play on Saturday, February 24. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
 
Game Flow
The Eutectics came out firing against the Owls as they scored eight of the first 12 points over the first three minutes of the contest. Brian Enriquez put the Owls down two, 9-7, after hitting a three pointer with 16:20 left in the game. Pharmacy continued to lead and stretched its lead back to five, 14-9, after a Caleb Gulick three.
 
Pharmacy stretched its lead to six points, before a jumper by Darrien Dickey put the Owls down four, 17-13. WWU continued to battle and a Codi Whitlock dunk tied the game. WWU took its first lead of the game with 9:52 left in the half when Brandon Vice hit a layup.
 
The Owls slowly stretched the lead to nine points, 32-23, after a Vice layup. The Owls locked down on the defensive end and over the final six minutes of the half, the Eutectics scored six more points. WWU grew its lead to 16, 45-29, heading to halftime.
 
WWU continued to add to its lead early in the second half as a pair of free throws by Dickey put the Owls ahead by 18, 49-31. On the next trip down for the Owls, Keyaire Marshall hit a jumper and WWU led by 20, 51-31, with 17 minutes left in the half.
 
The Owls were not done stretching the lead and a layup by Whitlock put the Owls ahead by 26, 59-33. The Owls continued to cause problems for the Eutectics as they went spans of two minutes without scoring and a layup by Fessler put the Owls ahead 67-38.
 
WWU grew the lead to 31, 73-42, with 8:38 left in the half. The Eutectics continued to battle and after an Anthony Vallejo layup the Owls lead was down to 27, 77-50, however the Owls extended the lead back to 33 points, 83-50, after a layup by Stark.
 
The Owls grew the lead to 34 points, 89-55, with 1:51 left in the game. WWU did not let Pharmacy back in the game and WWU came away with a 94-60 victory.
