Men’s Basketball Falls to Harris-Stowe, 60-51

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team suffered an 60-51, American Midwest Conference loss to Harris-Stowe State University on Thursday evening. The loss is the Owls fourth loss in its last five games.
 
Darrien Dickey led the Owls with 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting. DaShaun Stark and Brandon Vice rounded out the double figure scores for the Owls with 11 and 10 points respectfully. Dickey led the Owls with nine rebounds. WWU shot 34.9 percent in the contest and committed 21 turnovers in the loss.
 
WWU returns to action on Tuesday, February 13th when they host Lindenwood University – Belleville in AMC action. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
 
Game Flow

The Owls came out on fire as they scored nine of the first 12 points over the first five minutes of the contest. During the stretch, the Owls Darrien Dickey had five of the nine points for the Owls, while Brandon Vice and Keyaire Marshall added a bucket each.
 
Harris-Stowe answered right back as they went on a 9-2 run taking an 12-11 lead over the Owls with 10:12 remaining in the first half. After the Hornets took the lead, DaShaun Stark hit a three putting the Owls ahead by two, 14-12.
 
The Hornets took a lead of five, 26-21, with 3:37 left in half, after a Rahasaan Johnson basket in the paint. However, the Owls answered back as they close the half on an 8-2 run. During the run, the Owls had four different Owls score during the run. The last bucket came by Dickey with 10 seconds left in the half and WWU led 29-28 at halftime.
 
William Woods was hampered by shooting woes in the second half as they shot 22.7 percent for the half. The Owls first three points of the half came from the free throw line over the first four minutes. During that time the Hornets took a four-point lead, 36-32.
 
WWU's first field goal in the second half came with 15:15 left in the contest when Brandon Vice hit a layup putting the Owls down two, 36-34. After Vice's bucket, the Owls went scoreless for the next seven minutes of the contest. During that time, Harris-Stowe grew its lead to 16 points, 50-34.
 
The Owls did not go away as they battled, and they found themselves down 12, 53-41, with 6:40 left. WWU went on a 7-0 run trimming the lead down to five, 53-48, after a Stark layup in the paint with 4:26 left in the contest. However, the Owls only scored three points for the rest of the contest and were defeated by Harris-Stowe, 60-51.
