FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team extended its winning streak to eight on Friday afternoon when they swept visiting Central Baptist College. WWU took game one 3-2 and bounced back taking game two, 1-0 in extra innings.

The Owls return to action on Saturday, March 3rd when they close out the three-game set with the Mustangs of Central Baptist College. First-pitch is set for 12 p.m.

The Owls scored first in the bottom of the second when
Nolan Aherin reached on a walk and
Frankie Valle hit a single to advance Aherin to third.
Zach Smith followed with a single, and scored Aherin putting the Owls ahead, 1-0.

The Mustangs scored in the top of the fourth to tie it up, 1-1. Jamal Washington led off with a hit and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. He moved to third on a wild pitch before coming in to score on a sacrifice fly by L'Donta Howard.

After a scoreless fifth and sixth innings, the Mustangs scored again in the top of the seventh giving them the lead, 2-1. Charley Harber laid down a squeeze scoring Austin Allen putting the Mustangs ahead.

The Owls came into the seventh with a walk from
Glen DesBouillons and a single by
Patrick Dillon. Due to a Mustang error, the Owls were in scoring position.
Josh Nicol laid down a squeeze bunt and scored DesBouillons and Dillon came into score on a Mustangs error and the Owls won, 2-1.

The Owls and the Mustangs were in a pitcher's duel as
Ryan Furtney and Jose Delmar dominated on the pitcher's mound. The duel lasted for nine innings and extended the game into extra innings. In the top of the first, the Mustangs put a runner on third with one out, but Furtney recorded back to back strikeouts ending the inning.

CBC threatened again in the second inning when they had runners on first and second with one out, but again Furtney came up with a big strike out and a fly out ending the inning. The Mustangs continued leaving guys on base as they left two more stranded in the top of the third inning.
The Owls could not get anything going off Delmar in the contest as Delmar recorded 12 strikeouts in the contest.
 It was not until the bottom of the tenth when the Mustangs relieved Delmar with Jacob Clark and
Glen DesBouillons and Dillon both reached on walks. Another pitching change for the Mustangs would put the Owls
Josh Nicol draw a walk to load the bases. With
Brian Granton up to bat, Moreno threw a wild pitch and would allow DesBouillons to cross the plate giving the Owls a 1-0 victory in ten innings.
