FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team swept American Midwest Conference opponent Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. WWU won game one, 3-2, and won game two, 8-0.

The Owls honored its four seniors between games on Saturday. Leading the Owls on the day was
Emily Robinett, who had three hits.
Alli Massey led the Owls with four RBIs.
Allison Waskow and
Bre Logan picked up the wins for the Owls.

WWU returns to action on Tuesday, April 3rd when they travel to Columbia, Missouri to face No. 8 Columbia College in AMC action. First-pitch is set for 2 p.m.

Game One
Game Flow
The Owls and the Hornets went into the first game scoreless in the first inning before the Owls would score three runs in the bottom of the second inning. It all started when
Amanda Bouchey reached on an error and
Emma Walker joined her in the same fashion. After a base hit by
Lindsay Van Tress, the Owls loaded the bases.
Ari Arnold came up and made the Hornet defense work and caused an error, scoring Bouchey. Another hit by
Dacrie Depping scored
Emma Walker and a hit by
Emily Robinett scored Van Tress, bringing the Owls to 3-0 lead.

After taking a 3-0 lead, senior
Bre Logan came out in the top of the third and walked the leadoff hitter. She settled down and as she struck out the next two hitters and got the third to line out to second base ending the inning.

The Hornets started chip away at the Owls lead in the top of the fourth inning. After a walk and an Owls error put two runners in scoring position. With one out, Courtney Norris hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring the first run of the game for the Hornets.

William Woods looked to add another run in the bottom of the fourth.
Lindy Wilson walked and stole second base. She went to third on a sacrifice bunt. Depping came up and laid down a bunt on a squeeze play, but Wilson was thrown out at the plate.

The Hornets added another run in the top of the sixth inning. After back to back singles put two on, Cassidy Williams singled scoring one. Logan settled down after three straight hits getting three outs and WWU led 3-2.

Harris-Stowe could not get anything going in the top of the seventh against Logan as she struck out two to open the inning and got Emily Lavine to pop out to end the game and the Owls won game one, 3-2.

Game Flow
The Owls offense showed up in the second game when they scored first in the bottom of the first inning.
Emma Walker walked and stole second base. After
Emily Robinett hit a double to left that scored Walker putting the Owls ahead 1-0.

The Owls would then break open in the bottom of the second scoring four runs including a triple by
Lindy Wilson scoring
Jessica Bradfisch. Arnold singled to score Wilson and was later able to score with Robinett off a triple hit by
Alli Massey extending the score to 5-0.

The bottom of the third was quiet for both sides but the Owls got the offense going again in the fourth inning. With two outs, Walker and Robinett singled putting two on. Massey drove them both home with a double to right center and the Owls led 7-0.

Harris-Stowe threatened in the top of the fifth inning on
Allison Waskow. Williams doubled to deep left field opening the inning. Courtney Norris followed with a single to center putting two runners on base. After Waskow recorded a strikeout, Chamberlain get a ground ball back to Waskow who flipped the ball to Bre Devellano who tagged the runner out. Waskow than got Kyrah Johnson out on a strikeout and WWU led 7-0.

WWU ended the game quick in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior
Lindsay Van Tress doubled to left and then stole third base. After a pop out, senior
Jessica Bradfisch singled to left scoring Van Tress and WWU came away with an 8-0 mercy rule victory.
