TOPEKA, Kan. – The William Woods University men's tennis team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, was defeated by NCAA Division II Washburn University, 7-2, on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Owls were down early as Washburn came away with all three points in doubles action. Washburn took No. 1 doubles, 8-2, No. 2 doubles, 8-5 and No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
William Woods only claimed two points in singles as
Oscar Barreiro defeated Raul-Alin Dicu in three sets. Barreiro won 6-4, before dropping set two, 4-6, before winning the third set 10-8.
The Only other point for the Owls came in No. 2 singles when
Christian Barbieri defeated Paul Haase, 6-3, 6-0.
The Owls could not get anything else going as they dropped a three-set match in No. 1 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 6 singles.
WWU returns to the courts on Saturday, April 14th when they host Missouri Valley College at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex. Match starts at 2 p.m.
