ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's tennis team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, defeated Missouri Baptist University, 9-0, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 6-0, on Friday in American Midwest Conference action.

The Owls return to action on Friday, April 27th when they open play at the American Midwest Conference/Heart of American Unaffiliated group tournament. The winner of the tournament will advance to the NAIA National Championship with an automatic berth.
Missouri Baptist
Against the Spartans, the Owls went ahead 3-0 after taking all three doubles matches.
Benjamin Tzschentke and
Juan Esteban Duran took the first point of the match at 8-3.
Stefan Simic and
Jesus Amezcua followed winning No. 2 doubles, 8-5. The Owls closed out the doubles with an 8-5 win by
Javier Callejo and
Christopher Vleeming Ortiz.
The Owls continued to roll in singles action as they took all six singles matches on the night. In No. 1 singles,
Javier Callejo won 6-3, 6-2 over James Torbin.
Christopher Vleeming Ortiz followed with a three-set win, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 win in No. 2 singles.
Oscar Barreiro defeated Lucas Lobao 6-4, 6-4, in No. 3 singles.
Jesus Amezcua won 6-2, 6-1 in No. 4 singles for the Owls.
WWU continued to win as
Benjamin Tzschentke won 8-1 in No. 6 singles over Don Kern.
Nathan Cooke followed with an 8-5 victory in No. 5 singles.

The Owls took care of business against the Eutectics as they did not drop game against St. Louis Pharmacy. All the Owls who played singles, won 8-0 and the Owls came away with an 6-0 victory over the Eutectics.
