ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University was defeated by Missouri Baptist University, 19-9, in the Owls regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field on the campus of Missouri Baptist.

The Owls have qualified for the AMC Tournament, which starts next Wednesday May 2nd. The Owls will wait to see who they have play.

Game Flow
The Owls jumped out to a fast start in the third game of the series as
Brian Granton singled to start off the game. After back-to-back fielder's choice's
Tyler Cunningham came up to the plate and hit a home run to right field putting the Owls ahead 2-0. The home run was his tenth of the season, which puts him third all time for home runs in a single season.

Missouri Baptist answered back for a run in the bottom of the first inning. Brooks singled and went to second on a wild pitch. He came into score on a Washington single cutting the Owls lead in half.

WWU grew its lead back to two runs, 3-1, in the top of the second inning.
Patrick Dillon double and went to third on a wild pitch. After a strikeout,
Jordan Smith drew a walk, putting runners on the corners. Dillon scored on a MBU error and the lead was back to two, 3-1.

The Spartans answered back in the bottom of the second as they scored nine runs on the Owls. In the frame, McArthur had two RBIs on a single, Washington hit a three-run home run. After Washington's home run, Henderson answered with another home run. Hagan had an RBI single and the final run was scored on an Owls error.

William Woods scored two runs in the top of the third inning. With a runner on, Doug Martin, who was running for
Josh Nicol scored on a throwing error by the Spartans shortstop. Aherin came into score on a ground out by
Zach Smith and the Owls trailed 10-5.

The Spartans bats continued to stay hot as they scored another run in the bottom of the inning. With a runner on third, Washington singled through the left side scoring one and putting the Owls down six, 11-5.

The game remained 11-5 until the top of the sixth inning when the Owls scored two more runs. Aherin walked to start the inning and Cunningham followed with a double, putting two Owls in scoring position. One scored on a ground out. WWU's
Trevor Garriott followed with a walk putting runners on the corners.
Glen DesBouillons hit a sac fly to left field putting the Owls down four, 11-7.

WWU got the lead down to two, 11-9, in the top of the sixth inning.
Tyler Bracht walked to get the Owls offense going. Granton followed with a triple to left center. After a strikeout, the Owls Aherin singled to right scoring Granton and the Owls trailed by two, 11-9.

That would be as close as the owls would get in the contest as the Spartans bats exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and run ruled the Owls 19-9.
