JOPLIN, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team season came to the end in the American Midwest Conference Tournament when they were defeated by the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University, 11-7.

The Owls came to the end with a 31-24 record on the season.

Game Flow
The Owls and Spartans came out in a scoreless game until the top of the third inning. In the top of the third inning, Missouri Baptist came out and took a 1-0 lead. John Hagan reached on an error and scored on another error in the inning.

WWU came back and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Josh Nicol singled up the middle with to get the Owls started. He went to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch. With two outs,
Frankie Valle doubled home two runs for the Owls putting the Owls ahead, 2-1.

After keeping the Spartans quiet in the fifth, the Owls extended its lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs,
Marquise Doherty reached on a walk and
Patrick Dillon followed with single putting two runners for the Owls.
Josh Nicol singled up the middle scoring one and putting the owls ahead 3-1.
Glen DesBouillons followed with a three-run home run putting the Owls head 6-1.

After the Owls took the 6-1 lead, the Spartans came and tied in the top of the sixth inning. The Spartans scored five runs on two hits in the inning. During the frame, Dillon Harp had a two-run single in the game. After six innings the Owls and Spartans were tied at 6-6. Â

After the Owls went scoreless in the bottom of the sixth, the Spartans bats continued to stay hot as scored four runs in the top of the seventh taking a 10-6 lead. IN the frame Drew Brooks had a two-run double that extended the game to 10-6.

Caleb Dean grew the Spartans lead to 11-6 when he hit a solo home run in the top of the eight inning.

The Owls scored one run in the bottom of the eighth inning. With a 1-0 count, DesBouillons hit his second home run of the game. The Owls trailed 11-7 after the homerun. The Owls could not get anything going in the ninth inning and the Owls dropped the game 11-7.
