RV Owls Host Freed-Hardeman Thursday Jan. 31st

FULTON, Mo. – RV William Woods University men's basketball returns to Anderson Arena Thursday, Jan. 31, as they host Freed-Hardeman. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
 
About Freed-Hardeman
Freed-Hardeman enters the contest 3-19 overall and 1-13 in the AMC. Their last time out they fell 67-57 to Lindenwood-Belleville.
 
James Davis is playing extremely well for the Lions. His 20ppg average puts him first on the team in scoring. On Nov. 8th, he scored a season high 29 points in their loss to Tougaloo College (Miss.).
 
Following right behind Davis is Kortland Martin who is averaging 19.5 ppg. In their first game of the new year, he scored a career high 41 points in their victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. In that same game, Kortland shot 15-24 from the field and made a season high seven three-pointers.
 
About William Woods

The Owls enter the contest 13-7 overall and 10-4 in the American Midwest Conference. The team received votes in the latest NAIA Coaches Top-25 Poll and is currently ranked second in the AMC. Last time out, the Owls fell 82-62 to No. 3 Missouri Baptist. WWU sits three games behind the Spartans.

 
In the first meeting between Freed-Hardeman and WWU this season, the Owls walked away with a 65-68 road victory. David Johnson Jr. led the game with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Shad Kimble and Austin Curry both chipped in 11 points while Treshawn Gause added 10 points and 7 rebounds of his own.
 
Playing well for the Owls is Johnson Jr. He has recorded double-doubles in the last two of three games. On Jan. 22, he recorded 26 points and 13 rebounds in their 78-71 victory over Harris-Stowe. He also recorded 23 points and 10 rebounds Jan. 26 against Missouri Baptist. He currently leads the Owls with 17 ppg.
 
Also stepping up for the Owls is freshman forward Aaron Brookins. He has scored 46 points in the last three games. On Jan. 24, he scored a season-high 23 points in their victory over Columbia College. Brookins 9.7 ppg puts him fourth overall on the team in scoring.
 
The Owls have not played a game in Anderson Arena since Jan. 15 when they defeated St. Louis Pharmacy 92-58. A win over the Lions will give them their fifth home win of the season.
