WWU Looks For Fifth Straight Tuesday as They Host Lindenwood-Belleville

FULTON, Mo. – William Woods University men's basketball returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 8th to face Lindenwood-Belleville University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
 
About Lindenwood-Belleville
The Lynx enter the contest 2-12 overall and 2-5 in the American Midwest Conference. They got off to a slow start in the first half of the season losing 6 straight. Lindenwood-Belleville was finally able to capture their first win of the season on Dec. 1st when they defeated Columbia College 68-65.  Their second win would not come until Jan. 3rd when they beat Hannibal-LaGrange 73-69.
 
Leading the way for the Lynx is freshman JC Moll who is currently averaging 9 points a game. On Dec. 4th he recorded a season high 21 points against NCAA DII University of Missouri-St. Louis.
 
Also playing well for Lindenwood-Belleville is Shakari Hawkins. He is second on the team in scoring putting up 8.7 points a night. On Dec. 19th, he scored a season high 20 points in a 76-65 loss to University of Illinois-Springfield.
 
About William Woods
The Owls enter the contest on a four game winning streak. Their last two wins came over Lyon in close 66-61 victory that took place on Jan. 3rd and the second win coming over No.18 Central Baptist which WWU won 70-68.  The win of Central Baptist will be the second nationally ranked team the Owls have defeated this season.
 
After a hot start the second half of the season, William Woods currently sits at 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the AMC which puts them in third place.
 
David Johnson Jr. still leads WWU in scoring averaging 17.4 points. So far this season he has accumulated 226 total points. Last time out he scored 18 points in their win over Central Baptist.
 
Treshawn Gause is also playing extremely well for the Owls. He currently averages 8.7 points and 3.4 assists. Over the course of the season, he has tallied a team high 45 assists.
 
The Owls hold three Top 25 national rankings. They rank 21st overall in free throw percentage (72%), 24th overall in total blocks (50) and 25th overall in blocks per game (3.8).
 
Tuesday's contest will be the first home game for WWU since Dec. 1st

WWU will travel to Hannibal, Mo. Thursday, Jan.10th to face Hannibal-LaGrange. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
