FULTON, Mo. – William Woods University Women's Volleyball will play their final home game of the regular season on Friday Nov. 1 as they host non-conference University of Saint Mary (Kan.). The Owls will also be honoring six seniors before the competition;
Nise Salima,
Remie Johnson, Jacyln Zahn,
Kira Krebill,
Kayton Coffee and
Brooke Reed will all be glorified for their time they've spent at WWU.
About the University of Saint Mary
The Spires enter the contest 24-7 overall and sit in first place of the KCAC with a 10-0 conference record. After losing two straight games on Sept. 13 and 14, USM turned things around by defeating Culver-Stockton 3-0 and sparked a 15-game winning streak.
Their last time out they beat McPherson (Kan.) 3-2 on Oct. 29.
As a team, the University of Saint Mary holds four national rankings; they rank 25
th overall in total kills (1,382), 27
th overall in digs (1,949), 30
th total assists (1,247) and 50
th overall in total blocks (198). They also have four players with national rankings. Anna Hester ranks 11
th overall in hitting percentage (.35), Keisha Reyes ranks 19
th overall in total service aces (49) and 49
th overall in-service aces per game (.46). Cali Odom rounds out Spires rankings sitting 29
th overall in hitting percentage (.321).
Jessica Malizzi is leading the way for USM with 264 total kills this season.
About William Woods
WWU comes into the contest coming off a 3-0 loss to No. 5 Park. The loss moved the Owls to 16-17 overall and 7-3 in the American Midwest Conference.
Salima has led the Owls the entire season. Her 2.51 kills per game gives her a team high 281 total for the year. On Aug. 30
, she recorded a career-high 20 kills in their upset over No. 15 The Masters (Calif.).
Hannah Kuehl follows closely behind with 250 kills on the season.
Kate Doerhoff has also showed her aggression with 229 kills of her own.
Zahn remains the only Owl with national rankings. She ranks 17
th overall in total blocks (116) and 48
th overall in blocks per game (1.01).
History Between the Owls and The University of Saint Mary
This will be the first match between WWU and the Spires.
