Owls Honor Six in Tomorrow's Competition

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Men's Soccer team prepares for their final regular season game of the year as they take on RV Lyon. WWU will also be honoring six seniors before the Senior Day competition. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Firley Field.
 
About Lyon
The Scots enter the contest 12-4-1 overall and 8-1-1 in the AMC. After falling 2-1 to No.6 Columbia on Sept. 21, Lyon went on a seven-game winning streak defeating Central Baptist, Lindenwood-Belleville, Harris-Stowe, RV Missouri Baptist, St. Louis Pharmacy, Hannibal-LaGrange and Park.

Marcos Fernandez has led the way for the Scots this season. He has taken 52 shots with 26 shots being on goal; he also leads Lyon with nine goals on the season.

Raimundo Cabello has also played very well for Lyon. So far, he has attempted 32 shots with 17 shots being on goal. He ties Fernandez with nine goals on the season.

As a team, they have held four Top 25 national rankings; they rank sixth overall in total assists (58), seventh overall in assists per game (3.4) eighth overall in total goals (67) and 10th overall in goals per game (4).

Fernandez has also managed to hold national rankings; he ranks second overall in total assists (16), second overall in assists per game (1), 26th overall in total points (34) and 34th overall in points per game (2).

Emanuel Santos has also been able to maintain national honors. He ranks 15th overall in total assists (10) and 29th overall in assists per game (1).

Vicente Alamos rounds out Scotts rankings as he sits 48th overall in goals against per game (1.1).
 
About William Woods
The Owls will be honoring seniors Alberto Pitarch, Victor Faure, Josh King, Darren Wilson, Luca Crivellari and Henrique Tsugiyama before tomorrow's competition.  

After clinching an AMC Conference Tournament birth in a 6-1 victory of St. Louis Pharmacy, WWU moved to 6-11 overall and 4-6 in the American Midwest Conference.
Prior to the victory, WWU captured a huge 4-3 win over Harris-Stowe on Oct. 26.

William Woods currently holds two national rankings. They rank 27th overall in total saves (103) and 38th overall in saves per game (6).

Iker Gonzalez and Billy Nzojyibwami are the only Owls with national rankings. Gonzalez ranks 17th overall in total saves (3) and 21st overall in saves per game (6.2).

Nzojyibwami ranks 31st overall in total goals (13). He is also leading WWU in goals this season.
 
History Between William Woods and Lyon
These two teams first met on October 27, 2012 when the Scots defeated the Owls 3-2. Since then, they have played each other six more times in which WWU holds a 4-3 series lead.

The Owls will be looking for their fourth straight victory over Lyon in the competition.
