WWU Prepares for AMC Matchup Against Hannibal-LaGrange

FULTON, Mo. – William Woods University Men's Basketball returns to action Thursday, Nov. 21, as they host conference opponent Hannibal-LaGrange. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm. at Anderson Arena.
 
About Hannibal-LaGrange
Hannibal enters the contest 1-2 overall. After falling 81-65 to Culver-Stockton and 81-58 to Missouri Valley, the Trojans finally captured a 73-71 victory over Culver-Stockton. They also defeated NCAA DII Maryville University-St. Louis 75-65 on Nov. 14 in an exhibition contest.

Ryan Ward currently leads HLG with 14.6ppg. In their season opener, he scored a high 21 points on 7-14 shooting. He currently ranks 35th overall in assists per game (5) and 49th overall in 3-Pt Fg made per game (3).

Wyatt Ward follows right behind with 12ppg. He is currently shooting 72% from the field and 63% from the 3-point line. On Nov. 5th he knocked down a season high three 3-pointes in the loss to Missouri Valley.

As a team, the Trojans hold four national rankings; they rank 22nd overall in assists per game (17), 33rd overall in field goal percentage (47%), 38th overall in 3-Pt Fg percentage (35%) and 41st overall in total rebounds defense (36).
 
About William Woods
The Owls come into the contest 2-3 overall. After upsetting No. 25 Peru State College, WWU loss two games straight before capturing their second win of the season, 82-52 over Culver-Stockton.

Ian Hodges currently leads William Woods, putting up 10.2ppg. He is currently shooting 44% from the field and 39% from the free-throw line. On Nov. 11th he scored a season high 18 points in their loss to No.4 William Penn.

Tyriel Nelson is second on the team in scoring with 9.6ppg. In 40 attempts from the field he has knocked down 17 giving him a 42.5 shooting percentage; he also is shooting 37% form the field. Nelson scored a career high 17 points in their season opener against Bethel (Kan.).

Darius Yohe is the only Owls with a national ranking. He ranks 14th overall in blocks per game (2) and 14th overall in total blocks (9).
 
History Between William Woods and Hannibal-LaGrange
The last competition between the Owls and Trojans took place on Feb. 21, 2019 with WWU won 66-63.

William Woods currently holds a 15-4 series lead over HLG. They will be looking for their second straight victory over Hannibal in tomorrows competition.
