COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team saw their season come to a close in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference Championship. Entering the Championship as the eight seed, the Owls faced one-seed No. 2 Columbia College. The Owls dropped 1-0 to the undefeated team, ending their season with a 6-13 overall record.
Darren Wilson took the first shot for the Owls in the 10
th minute but it landed wide.
Billy Nzojyibwami fired off a shot in the 25
th minute but it went high. The Owls were unable to get another shot off in the half.
CC took nine shots in the first half, but was unable to find the back of the net, sending the game into halftime with the two teams deadlocked at 0-0.
A Nzojyibwami shot in the 60
th minute was blocked, leaving the game scoreless.
In the 66
th minute, CC found the net to take a 1-0 lead.
Wilson looked to even the score in the 68
th minute, but his shot was blocked.
The Owls managed just one more shot in the 85
th minute by
Dan Dougill, but the shot went high.
Iker Gonzalez spend 90 minutes between the posts. He finished with three saves.
The Owls were outshot 15-5.
