FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team will honor seniors
Keyaire Marshall,
Jason Walker,
Miguel Hudson,
Brian Enriquez and
Shad Kimble before their finally home game of the 2018-2019 regular season Thursday night as they take on Hannibal-LaGrange. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
About Hannibal-LaGrange
The Trojans enter the contest 16-9 overall and 14-6 in the AMC which ties them with WWU and Park for second place in the American Midwest Conference. They are currently on a two-game winning streak, defeating Harris-Stowe 63-59 on Feb. 12 and Lindenwood-Belleville 75-43 on Feb. 14.
Brady Smith is leading HLG with 21.1ppg. He has had four 30+ point games and a career-high 45 points against Central Baptist. Smith ranks 7
th overall in the nation in points per game, 10
th overall in defensive rebounds per game (6.7) and 10
th overall in total scoring (529). Outside of setting a career-high in points, he has also grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds against Park.
Tyrone Hueitt Jr. has also played very well for the Trojans this season. His 14.2ppg puts him second on the team in scoring. He scored a season-high 25 points twice this season, once against Culver-Stockton and again against Harris-Stowe. Hueitt Jr. currently ranks 4
th overall in the nation in blocks per game (2.5) and 6
th overall in total blocks (63).
About William Woods
William Woods (17-10, 14-6 AMC) enter the contest coming off a 83-78 double overtime victory over Central Baptist.
David Johnson Jr. broke the single season block record (39) in the contest.
Johnson Jr. is has led the Owls in scoring the entire season. He's currently averaging 16ppg and has had multiple double-doubles this season. David currently holds two Top 25 national rankings: 16
th overall in blocks per game (1.5) and 18
th overall in total blocks (39).
Treshawn Gause is the only other WWU player to hold national rankings. He ranks 25
th overall in the nation in total assists (109), 32
nd overall in assists per game (4) and 40
th overall in free throw percentage (80%). Gause is also second on the team in scoring with 11ppg. He also leads the team with 38 total steals.
Last time Against HLG
Last time out, William Woods fell 70-56 to Hannibal-LaGrange. Johnson Jr. led WWU with 14 points and three rebounds. Gause followed behind with 10 points and five rebounds in the contest. Despite the loss, the Owls still hold a 15-7 series lead.
AMC Tournament Schedule
While the exact rankings are still being decided, the eight team tournament field is set. No. 3 Missouri Baptist are officially the AMC Regular Season Champions, ranking them first in the AMC Tournament. Currently tied for second with a 14-6 conference mark and working out the 2-4 seeds are Hannibal-LaGrange, William Woods and Park. The 5-8 seeds are all tied with 10 wins and include Central Baptist, Harris-Stowe, Lyon and Columbia.
