WWU Volleyball Captures First AMC Win Defeating HSSU 3-0

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods volleyball team picked up a sweep against Harris-Stowe State Wednesday night, 3-0. The Owls move to 9-9 on the season and 1-1 in the AMC.
 
The Owls are back in action against RV Ottawa University on September 25 at 3 p.m. in Ottawa, Kan.
 
Game Flow
Starting with a kill from Hannah Kuehl, the Owls quickly produced a 4-0 run, with a 4-1 advantage.
 
The Hornets got on the board with four eventual kills but still found themselves down, 9-6.
 
The Owls took 15 straight points, and took the first set, 25-6.
 
To start the second set, the Owls got off to a 3-0 start which got started with a kill from Lanie Lowry.
 
The Hornets got their start after a kill from Jada Brooks, 3-1.
 
The Owls increased their lead by four with a kill from Jaclyn Zahn, 6-2.
 
Harris-Stowe found their way back into the match as they tied it up, 15-15.
 
The Owls started to pull away going on a 5-0 run, with a 20-15 lead.
 
The Hornets were only able to grab two more points in the set, while the Owls were able to secure a 25-17 second set win.
 
The Owls got out to a strong 4-0 lead to start the third set.
 
The Hornets fought their way back to grab three straight points, 4-3. This was as close as it got for the Hornets.
 
The Owls maintained the lead the rest of the set. Alli Gueck ended the match with a service ace and the Owls took the final set, 25-11.
