Gerald Breaks Career Assists Record in Win Over SC

FULTON, Mo. – Senior Kaycee Gerald broke the William Woods University career assist record in Thursday's 75-54 win over Stephens College. The Owls end the regular season with a 24-6 record, 18-6 in conference play.
 
The Owls locked in fourth place in the American Midwest Conference following last Saturday's win, so they will host the No. 5 seed in the opening round of the AMC Championship on Thursday, Mar. 5. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. with the AMC Academic All-Conference recipients being announced prior to the start.
 
By The Numbers
487 – Kaycee Gerald dished in 10 assists to bring her career number to 487, breaking the 28-year-old record.
18 – Peyton Greenlee went 6-for-8 from the arc to tally a game-high 18 points.
11 – Jazlyn Drake went 5-for-7 from the field for an 11-point performance.
10 – Gerald finished with 10 assists. Kasey Hazell and Rylie Cox scored 10 apiece. 
6 – Greenlee dropped in six three-pointers.
4 – Gerald grabbed a game-high four steals.
 
Game Flow
The Owls jumped out to a 26-7 lead through the first quarter. SC grabbed the tip and scored first with a jumper. Peyton Greenlee hit a three to take the lead, and Ashleigh Frampton extended the lead to five with a fast break lay-up. 
 
SC scored their second and last jumper with 7:32 on the clock to bring the game to 7-4.
 
The Owls blasted a 17-0 run to take up a 20-point lead with 2:35 on the clock, 24-4. SC scored their final three points of the quarter off free throws to send the game into the second quarter with the Owls up 26-7.
 
The Owls and SC were neck-and-neck in scoring in the second quarter; the Owls outscored SC 20-17.
 
SC cut the game to 18, but the Owls pushed an 11-2 run to bring their lead to back 27, 41-14. 
 
Kaycee Gerald broke the career assist record with Rylie Cox's three from the corner with 6:20 on the clock, giving her 482 career assists.
 
The Owls extended their lead to 28 with a three from Jazlyn Drake with 3:29 on the clock, 42-16.
 
In the final three minutes, SC cut the game to 22, 46-24. 
 
Coming into the second half, the Owls scored seven to take up a 29-point lead, 53-24.
 
SC dropped it to 25 with just over six minutes to play, but the Owls pushed it back to 29 with a three from Greenlee with 3:00 on the clock, 64-35.
 
SC went 4-for-4 from the foul line to cut the game back to 25, but Drake hit the final bucket of the quarter to send the game into the fourth with WWU leading 66-39.
 
SC outscored the Owls 15-9 in the final quarter, ending the game with a score of 75-54.
