Owls Swept by MBU

O'FALLON, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team suffered a series loss to Missouri Baptist University Friday afternoon. The Owls dropped game one 5-1 and game two 11-3.
 
The Owls begin a six-game home stretch starting with the Central Baptist series on Friday, March 6. 
 
Game One
MBU took up a four-run lead in the bottom of the third with the help of a three-run homer. 
 
WWU scored their one and only run in the top of the fourth with an RBI single by Chase Gibson to score Isaiah Gibbs.
 
MBU added one to take a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
 
The Owls were held to just two hits on the game. 
 
Logan Bexton (1-4) was credited with the loss. He pitched 5.0 innings and struck out three.
 
Game Two
 MBU opened game two with four runs including three coming from a three-run homer.

An RBI double by Alex Wimer scored Brady Owen to put the Owls on the board in the top of the third. Jordan Smith advanced to third on the play and plated the Owls' second run on Easton Wallace's RBI ground out.

Erik Stewart scored the Owls' third run of the game in the top of the fourth off Jack Neggemeier's double down the left field line, bringing the game to 4-3 MBU.

MBU hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 6-3. They added three more in the sixth and hit another two-run bomb in the seventh to take up an 11-3 lead.

The Owls put up five hits on the game. Neggemeier went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Dylan Hansen (1-1) was credited with the loss on the mound. He pitched 5.1 innings and struck out five.
