FULTON, Mo. – The No. 9 William Woods University men's tennis team pulled out a 4-3 win over NCAA Division II University of Illinois-Springfield Saturday afternoon. The Owls improve to 4-2 on the season with the win. 
 
The Owls won 2-of-3 doubles to earn the first point. Jesus Amezcua and Zach Frisbie pulled out a 7-5 win in the No. 2 doubles, and Sam Bird and Patrick Shelepov won 6-3 in the No. 3 doubles.
 
Shelepov grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles to put the Owls up 2-0.
 
UIS won in the No. 3 singles to get a point, bringing the match to 2-1.
 
Amezcua put the Owls up 3-1 with his No. 4 singles win, 6-1, 6-3.
 
UIS evened the score at 3-3 as they grabbed a No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-1) and No. 5 singles win (6-2, 5-7, 6-3).
 
Zach Frisbie won the final point for the Owls in three sets. He won set one 7-5, lost set two 6-4 and won set three 6-2. 
 
The Owls host McPherson College on Sunday, March 8, at 11 a.m.
