ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball season ended in the semifinals round of the American Midwest Conference Championship Friday evening. The Owls fell 3-0 to No. 3 Missouri Baptist, the AMC regular season champion.
The Owls lost 13-25, 20-25, 22-25.
The Owls closed out their season with a 21-10 overall record. They entered the AMC Championship as the four seed with a 6-3 conference record.

Meagan Engelbrecht brought the Owls within one point early in the first set, 8-7. MBU took a three-point lead, but back-to-back kills from
Hannah Kuehl again brought the Owls within one, 11-10. MBU struck an 8-0 run to take a 20-11 lead. A kill from Kuehl broke up the run, but MBU finished off the set with a 5-1 run to win 25-13.
The Owls played point-for-point with MBU at the start of set two, and a kill from Kuehl gave the Owls a one-point lead, 9-8. The Owls stayed one step ahead, and a 6-0 run featuring two aces from
Alli Gueck, a kill from Lowry and two blocks from Lowry and
Kassidy Phillips gave the Owls a six-point lead, 17-11. MBU responded with a 14-3 run to close out the set with a 25-20 final score.
Kuehl,
Riley Alton and
Tess Schannuth each had a part in the Owls' 7-0 run to begin the third set, giving the Owls a 7-2 lead. MBU responded with a 5-0 run, evening the score. The Owls continued to stay one step ahead until MBU put together a 5-1 run to take a three-point lead, 16-13. A kill from Kuehl followed by two aces from
Emily Greif evened the score at 16-16. MBU managed to stay one step ahead of the Owls, but two MBU errors again tied the set at 22-22. MBU finished off the set with a 3-0 run to win the match 25-22.
