Schwartze Ties Gameday 3-Point FG Record in Loss at MVC

MARSHALL, Mo. – Nathan Schwartze lit up the three-point line as he tied the WWU gameday three-point field goal record with seven in Saturday evening's 75-72 loss to Missouri Valley College. The Owls fall to 2-6 on the season.
 
The Owls return home for a 5:30 tip-off versus Graceland University (Iowa) on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

27 – Nathan Schwartze put up 27 points on the night (9-18 FG, 7-12 3FG).
13 – Darius Yohe recorded his second straight double-double as he put up 13 points (4-4 FG, 5-6 FT).
11 – Andrew Nett added 11 points to the game with three three-pointers.

Game Highlights
The Owls started off the night with back-to-back three-pointers from Andrew Nett and Nathan Schwartze to take a 6-0 lead just over a minute in. MVC brought the game to one point, but back-to-back threes from Schwartze gave the Owls an eight-point lead four minutes in, 13-5.
 
MVC responded with an 8-0 run over the next minute to even the score. A three from Nett put the Owls back on top, but MVC again evened the score on the next play.
 
MVC then blasted an 18-0 run to take up a 31-16 lead just over halfway through the half.
 
A three from Nett brought the Owls' deficit back to single digits with 4:54 to play. MVC managed to hold onto a double digit lead though, and an in-the-paint shot from Schwartze ended the half with the Owls trailing 48-38.
 
A three from Schwartze kicked off the second half, and two free throws from Yohe brought the Owls back within five two minutes in, 48-43.
 
A down low bucket from Crutcher with 15:37 on the clock brought the Owls within three, but MVC pushed back out a 10-point lead over the next two minutes, 57-47.
 
A 6-0 MVC run put them up by 13 with 6:04 remaining in the game.
 
Coming out of an Owls' timeout, Mike Robinson hit a three and Crutcher followed with a fast break bucket to cut the game to eight with 5:11 to play, 71-63.
 
The Owls held MVC scoreless for a three-minute span while putting up eight to cut the game to two points with 1:46 to play, 73-71. Six of the points came from free throws.
 
MVC scored on a fast break layup to break their silence and take a four-point lead with 1:27 on the clock.
 
Schwartze hit a free throw to cut the game to three with 1:21 on the clock, but neither team was able to find the net in the final minute, ending the game with a 75-72 Owls' loss.
