Women's Basketball Drops to RV Columbia

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team succumbed to RV Columbia College Saturday afternoon. The 73-40 loss brings the Owls to 3-8 on the season with a 0-2 conference mark.
 
The Owls next play at NCAA Division II Missouri S&T in an exhibition game on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m.

12 – Sydney Booker led the team with 12 points after she scored 10 from the foul line.

Game Highlights
CC started the game with a 7-0 lead before Jheda Kennedy knocked down two free throws just under three minutes in. Sydney Booker went 2-for-2 from the foul line with 4:48 on the clock to bring the Owls' deficit back within single digits, 13-4. CC again went back up by 13, but back-to-back layups from Amaya Keeling and Kennedy cut the game back to five with two minutes to play, 17-8. CC scored the final points of the quarter to send the game into the second with the score sitting at 20-8.
 
CC pushed the game to a 17-point gap just over a minute in. A jumper from Taneigh Boyd brought the game within 12 with 1:46 on the clock, and Booker scored the final point of the half from the foul line to bring the Owls within 11, 33-22. The Owls outscored CC 14-13 in the second quarter.
 
Hazell finished a traditional three-point play to bring the Owls within 14 with 5:50 to play in the third quarter, 40-26. Hazell again scored three on a traditional three-point play to bring the score to 55-32 with 2:16 to play, but CC scored the final points of the quarter to send the game into the final 10 minutes with the Owls trailing 57-33.
 
Arriyonn Phillips scored the first points of the fourth quarter, but CC went on to outscore the Owls 16-7 in the final 10 minutes to end the game with a 73-40 loss.
