Owls Suffer Loss at MBU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team suffered a loss at Missouri Baptist University Thursday evening. 
 
The 77-37 loss drops the Owls to 4-9 on the season. With Thursday's game, the Owls met the threshold of games to be in the top tier in the COVID-19 amendments for the American Midwest Conferences Championship. For more information about the Championship seeding, click here.
 
The Owls play their final two regular season games on back-to-back days, starting with a road game at Central Baptist tomorrow at 2 p.m.

8 – Kiyanna Rodgers scored a team-high eight points.

Game Flow
MBU jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the first three minutes of play before Kasey Hazell broke the Owls' silence with a put-back jumper. Natalie Thomas hit a short jumper following a Hazell steal to bring the Owls within three with 5:56 left in the first, 7-4. MBU answered with an 8-0 run to take an 11-point lead, but Kiyanna Rodgers hit a three and a two to bring the Owls within six with 2:32 to play, 15-9. MBU scored the final points of the quarter to possess a nine-point lead, 18-9.
 
The Owls cut the game to four with a 7-0 run after MBU put up an 11-point lead to start the quarter. With 4:28 left in the first half, the Owls trailed 22-18. MBU again scored seven straight to take an 11-point lead with 2:52 on the clock. The Owls managed to bring the game within 10 heading into halftime, 32-22.
 
The Owls were outscored 45-15 in the second half, ending with a 77-37 loss. The Owls struggled to connect, going 0-11 from the three-point line and hitting just five of their 28 shot attempts total.
