PEKIN, Ill. – The William Woods University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Lincoln College (Ill.) in Friday afternoon's season-opener.
Miguel de La Rosa gave the Lynx the first goal of the game with 31:19 on the clock, 1-0.
The Owls did not get their first shot until the 42:20 mark but
Joao Quinonez found the back of the net with an assist by
Zachary Baliva to tie the game 1-1.
Lincoln scored their second goal with a header off the corner kick by Isaac Noriega with 6:12 remaining in the game
The Owls did have one more scoring chance near the end of regulation but came up empty.
Iker Gonzalez recorded seven saves during the game in between the posts with six coming in the second half.
The Owls return to action February 25 at 3 p.m. against Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.
