Owls Top HSSU with Accurate Shooting

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team used a strong first half and accurate shooting to lift them over Harris-Stowe State University on the road Saturday afternoon, 72-62. The Owls move to 6-7 on the season with a 6-5 conference mark.
 
The Owls next face Central Baptist at home on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls got on the board first, but HSSU evened the score a minute later. The two teams traded buckets, evening the score three more times with six lead changes through the first 10 miuntes of play. 
 
With 6:46 on the clock, Darius Yohe hit back-to-back buckets to take a four-point lead, 23-19. HSSU cut the game to two with a fast break layup following a steak with 5:31 on the clock, 23-21.
 
The Owls secured a 10-0 run fueled by Yohe and Makenzie Fessler over a four-minute span to take a 12-point lead with 1:27 left in the half, 33-21.
 
HSSU hit a three to crack the Owls' run, but Mike Robinson netted the final points of the game on a three to give the Owls a 12-point advantage heading into halftime, 36-24.
 
Robinson hit a three to start the second, giving the Owls a 15-point lead. 
 
HSSU cut the game to 11 multiple times and managed to bring the game within eight with 13:01 left in the game following a fast break three, 48-40.
 
The Owls hit back-to-back buckets to take back a 12-point lead, and a 7-1 run with five points coming from Ian Hodges gave the Owls a 16-point lead with 7:33 to play, 61-45.
 
The Owls held on and grabbed the 10-point win, 72-62.
