ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team captured their fifth straight win as they defeated Harris-Stowe State University 4
-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Owls are currently undefeated in conference play with a 5-0 record and are 5-1 overall.
Just 11:23 minutes into the game,
Cindy Gonzalez scored the first goal for the Owls from right outside the box.
Gonzalez netted her second goal of the game, extending their lead to 2-0 with 37:16 off the clock.
One minute after the Owls scored their second goal,
Chloe Overkamp entered the game and quickly found the back of net with the assist from
Sydney Balducci, 3-0.
HSSU attempted two shots on goal during the first period but they were both unsuccessful.
In the 53rd minute, HSSU scored their one and only goal, 3-1.
With the clock hitting the 72
nd mark, Balducci found the back of the net with an assist from
Brianna Morrow to give the Owls a 4-1 lead.
The Owls outshot HSSU 19-5.
CeVana Borgstedt recorded two saves in her 90 minutes between the posts.
The Owls return to action Wednesday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m. against Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, Mo.
