Fulton, Mo. – The No. 22 William Woods University men's tennis team defeated Bethel College 7-0 Friday afternoon. The win moves the Owls to 3-2 this season.
The Owls were able to take the doubles point, winning at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 spots.
Patrick Shelepov and
Ben Grumley teamed up in No. 1 doubles and defeated Michael Cech and Nola Schrader, 6-1. In No. 2 doubles,
Nathan Cooke and
Aaron Westerlund earned a 6-4 victory over Jordan Singh and Milan Bucek. In No. 3 doubles,
Jack Campbell and
Vitek Subert grabbed a 6-4 win against Colby McWhorter and Zachary Shima.
In No. 1 singles, Shelepov earned a 6-0, 7-5 over Cech. In No. 2 singles, Grumley defeated Bucek 6-2, 6-2. Westerlund took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Schrader in No. 3 singles.
Mladen Novovic defeated Shima, 6-0, 6-3, in No. 4 singles.
Jack Campbell swept Singh, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 5 singles. Cooke won 6-0, 6-3 against McWhorter in No. 6 singles.
The No. 22 Owls return to action at home tomorrow Mar. 6, versus John Brown University (Ark.) at 10 a.m. and against RV McPherson College at 3:30 p.m.
