Box Score 2 FULTON, Mo. – The no. 22 William Woods University men's tennis team grabbed two wins at home Saturday. The Owls swept John Brown, 7-0. In the match against receiving votes McPherson, the Owls won 5-2. The team moves to 5-2 on the season with the two wins.
Next up for the Owls is a home match on Saturday, March 13, versus RV Southwestern College (Kan.) starting at 2 p.m.
William Woods vs. John Brown, 7-0
The Owls grabbed the doubles point after sweeping doubles play.
Jack Campbell and
Vitek Subert finished first with a 6-1 win in the no. three spot.
Aaron Westerlund and
Robert Schorr in the no. two spot and
Patrick Shelepov and
Ben Grumley in the no. one spot finished with 6-2 wins.
In singles play, the Owls grabbed all six wins.
Nathan Cooke finished first with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the no. six slot. Schorr won 6-2, 6-1 in the no. three spot, and Grumley finished third with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the no. two spot. Campbell earned a 6-4, 6-2 win in the no. five spot, and
Mladen Novovic won 6-0, 6-1 in the four spot. Subert finished last for the Owls with a 7-5, 6-3 win in the no. one spot.

The Owls grabbed the doubles point after sweeping doubles play. Shelepov and Grumley won 6-1 in the no. one spot. Campbell and Subert finished second, solidifying the double's point with their 6-2 win. Westerlund and Schorr finished out doubles with a 6-3 win in the no. two spot.
Shelepov won 6-1, 6-0 in the no. one spot to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. Grumley finished next in the no. two spot with a 6-4, 6-2 win. Subert gave the Owls a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Westerlund went into a long tiebreaker in the no. three spot but came up short, 6-1, 6-7 (2), 9-11.
With WWU leading 4-1, Schorr finished next with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the no. five spot.
Jack Campbell finished last, falling 6-4, 6-2 to his opponent.
