COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team's season ended Saturday afternoon following a 2-1 loss to one-seeded Columbia College in the American Midwest Conference Quarterfinals. The Owls conclude their season with a 4-5-1 record.
Columbia advances to the AMC Semifinals and will host four-seeded Williams Baptist on Tuesday, April 13.
Columbia took a 1-0 lead following a penalty kick off a handball in the box in the 29
th minute. They took a 2-0 lead in the 35
th minute with a header on a corner kick.
The Owls scored in the 61
st minute as
Guillermo Fernandez connected with
Omar Ariel Murillo Hernandez on a corner kick who then found the back of the net.
The Owls were held to just two shots while Columbia fired off 22.
Iker Gonzalez made seven stops in between the posts.
