Owls Fall to Columbia in AMC Semifinals

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team had their American Midwest Conference postseason run come to a close as they fell to three-seeded Columbia in the AMC Championship Semifinals. The Owls fell 3-1, moving to 12-3 on the season.

The Owls were announced as the AMC Regular Season Champions during Tuesday evening's quarterfinal game. With that, the Owls earned the program's first title and the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.

More information will be released soon on the location and time for the Owls' opening round game on Saturday, April 17.

William Woods Becomes AMC Regular Season Champions
"Upon learning a student-athlete subject to the AMC Intra-Conference Transfer rule had played in Conference matches, the Executive Committee convened on Tuesday afternoon and voted to require forfeits of those two matches," stated American Midwest Conference Commissioner Will Wolper. "The forfeits will adjust the final regular-season standings and our first automatic bid to the NAIA Tournament.  The Committee took further action of not adjusting the Tournament seeding."

As a result of the decision by the Executive Committee, William Woods received a forfeit win and finished the regular season as the AMC Champions. They will receive the AMC's first automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship. This will be the Owls first appearance in school history in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
