COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team ended their season in the final elimination game before the championship game in the 2021 American Midwest Conference Softball Championship. The Owls defeated Lyon College to remain alive in the AMC Championship, advancing to the final elimination game before falling 3-0 to no. 19 Central Baptist.
The Owls conclude their season with a 21-22 record.
Central Baptist will go on to play Columbia College in the championship game on Saturday, May 8.

WWU scored two in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead.
Jaden Swift plated the first run on an error by the Lyon left fielder on
Mallory Feldewerth's fly ball, and Feldewerth scored the second run on
Alexis Hassler's RBI single to right-center field.
Lyon matched in the bottom of the inning on a two RBI double to even the score.
Ally Mahoney scored the go-ahead run on
Devyn Burton's RBI single to left field in the fourth inning.
Hanna Knipp and Burton scored on
Mia Santos' RBI single to center field, giving the Owls a 5-2 lead.
The Owls loaded up the bases with one out in the fifth, bringing
Ally Mahoney up for a RBI single to score Taylor. They added one more run in the seventh with a Hassler RBI double down the left field line to bring Taylor home again.
The Owls outhit Lyon 9-4. Hassler went 2-3 from the plate with a double and two RBI. Taylor recorded two hits and scored two runs.
On the mound, Hassler (14-9) pitched the complete game win. She struck out two while allowing just four hits and two runs.
Central Baptist def. William Woods, 3-0
CBC scored two runs in the first inning on two RBI singles. They added a third run in the third inning on an error by the Owls.
The Owls left six runners stranded throughout the seven innings. They were held to just four hits with two coming from Feldewerth.
Kalee Wall (5-8) pitched the complete game. She struck out three while allowing two earned runs.
