FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team opened the 2021 season with a 3-0 sweep over Missouri Valley College.
The Owls won 25-15, 25-14, 25-16.
The Owls next play four matches at the Hampton Inn Classic hosted by Columbia College starting Friday, August 27. The Owls face two ranked opponents at the tournament.

Game Flow
The Owls pushed out a 13-6 lead with a 5-0 run including an ace from
Emily Greif and kills from
Reanna Dodge and
Riley Alton. Four errors from MVC later in the set put the Owls up 20-9, but MVC cut the game to 20-14 following a 5-0 run of their own. A kill from
Kassidy Phillips brought the Owls to set point, and a block from Dodge and
Lauren Adams ended set one with a 25-15 win.
The Owls pushed out a 6-1 lead to start set two. MVC closed the gap to two points midway through, but a kill from Adams began a 6-1 run to put the Owls up 18-11. Four consecutive kills from the Owls ended the set with a 25-14 win.
The Owls again jumped out to a 6-1 lead in set three. A 7-2 run filled with two kills from Dodge and two from
Hannah Kuehl gave the Owls a 16-8 lead. A kill from Kuehl brought the Owls to match point, and a MVC attack error ended the match with a 25-16 win.
